Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with FNSCI
On May 19, 2010, SAIM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI). The MOU covers various activities some of which are to provide exposure to and share real life experience with students regarding SMEs, provide internship and project work opportunities to students, to help FNCSI in fields of academia like conducting research, surveys, short term trainings, seminars, and helping identify potential markets.
Training cum workshop on Valuation of Securities
Training cum Workshop on Valuation of Securities was conducted from June 21-25, 2010. The program objective was to provide trainees knowledge and techniques to determine the fair value of securities and thereby develop the ability to spot opportunities for investments n the Nepalese securities markets. Participants were mainly from various banks and financial institutions. They considered the training to be successful.
Student Activities
SAIM strongly believes that extra-curricular activities are essential in grooming students into well rounded personalities. Be it sports, publication of newsletters and magazines, debates, movie-making, seminars, or essay contests, the students at SAIM have their share of all these activities and more.
Publication of Student Newsletter
Students at SAIM have been publishing a newsletter titled – Avid with a view to share their views and opinions on business and management in Nepal and region. The first issue of Avid was launched by the students in May, 2007. The second and third issues of AVID were published in August 2007 and March 2008 respectively.
Movie Festival
Students of SAIM organized a Movie Festival on to screen documentaries that were conceptualized and produced by the students’ themselves as part of their MIS course. Five documentaries were screened at the festival to a large and spell bound audience, made up of board and faculty members of SAIM, parents, special guests from corporate houses and friends and well wishers. The panel of judges had a difficult task in deciding on the best documentary, as all the documentaries were thoroughly entertaining of a very high standard.
Debate Competition
Students of the second batch organized a debate competition on the topic “Should Smoking be Banned in Public Places in Nepal”. Six participants participated in the competition which was attended by students and faculty members. The best speaker was selected by the audience through voting.
Student Research Findings in Media
As part of their group research project for the quantitative analysis course, SAIM’s students hosted discussion programs on their research topics in different FM stations and TV channels to share their research findings. Similarly, students also published their findings in some leading publications such as the Himalayan Times, Spotlight Magazine among others.
