The faculty members at SAIM are well-qualified and experienced with adequate exposure to their areas, updating and developing their expertise through research, consulting and training. High class faculty help students to build their capabilities as leaders and managers and explore the latest management thinking so they gain knowledge, skills, and insight into all critical areas of general management Inviting CEOs as visiting faculty from business houses and reputed academic institutions to share their experiences with the students and provide them practical insight into the managerial problems is a common practice in SAIM.
ASHOK R. PANDEY, Professor
MBA, Harvard University, USA
Experience: He is presently a full time professor at SAIM. Prior to this, he was the managing director of Nepal Electric Vehicle Corporation, which he helped transform into a profitable service and production company. Prior to that, he was actively involved in marketing Nepal as a major garment producer in the US, served as a financial analyst at Montgomery Ward in Chicago and as a training and project analysis chief at the Industrial Development Center in Nepal. He teaches Corporate Finance and Investment Management at SAIM.
Area of Interest: Finance and General Management.
BIJAY KC, Professor

Experience: Prof. KC has over 30 years of experience in management education. Before joining SAIM, he served as the Dean of Kathmandu University School of Management for about eleven years and at Tribhuvan University's Management Department for about 23 years. He was also a visiting professor at the Management School of the University of Lancaster. He is actively involved in consulting and research activities. He has also served as chairman of Agricultural Development Bank/Nepal.

BISHNU DEV PANT, Professor
Ph.D. Indian Statistical Institute, India
Experience: Dr. Pant has over 30 years of working experience in various international agencies. He has worked in the Asian Development Bank, Manila in different capacities for more than 12 years since April 1996, and was mostly responsible in assisting the ADB developing member countries improve their statistical system. He was the director of the Development Indicators and Policy Research Division in the Economics and Research Department for about two years before taking retirement in July 2008. Prior to joining ADB, Dr. Pant also worked in the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok as chief of the Statistical Information Services Section from April 1986 to March 1996. He also served as the Statistics Advisor to the national Planning Commission of the Government of Nepal in 1984 and 1985. His major areas of expertise include Statistics and National Accounts.

SHAKTI S. RANA, Professor

Experience: Dr. Rana is a professor at SAIM and he teaches courses on Management Information Systems, Quantitative Methods and Research Methodologies. He served as manager of Planning and Engineer-in-Chief in Nepal Television.

SABINA TULADHAR, Assistant Professor

Experience:After completing her MBA, Ms. Tuladhar was involved in setting up and managing her family business. Her interest in academia has drawn her to SAIM as a faculty member. Through her professional experience in managing her family business, she has developed interest and expertise in the area of Human Resource Management.

MADHUKAR SJB RANA, Adjunct Professor
MA Economics, McMaster University, Canada
Experience: Widely known as a management expert and consultant, Mr. Rana has served as Minister of Finance of the Government of Nepal. Earlier he was a senior economic advisor at the Ministry of Finance, and advisor at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. He also served as the executive director of the Centre for Economic Development and Administration (CEDA), as deputy general manager of the National Trading Corporation, as a senior regional economist and project manager of UNCTAD. He also taught at the Nippising University, Ontario, Canada as a lecturer of Economics and at Cambrian College of Applied Arts & Technology, Ontario, Canada as an Associate Teaching Master for Economics, Statistics and Labour Relations.

PRAKASH CHANDRA LOHANI, Adjunct Professor

Experience: Highly regarded as a statesman and economist in the country and around the region, Dr. Lohani has served as the Minister of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Housing and Physical Planning of the Government of Nepal, at different points in time. He was also an assistant professor of Finance in California State University, Northridge, California, USA. He is presently the Joint Chairman of Nepal Janashakti Party.

RADHESH PANT, Adjunct Professor

Experience: Mr. Pant is presently the CEO of Kumari Bank. He is also the immediate past president of the Bankers Association of Nepal. In the past, he has held management positions in reputed firms in the US: he served as a financial analyst at Pacific Rim Interface Member Enterprises, INC. (PRIME) and as finance manager at AMGEN INC. He has taught finance to the students at MBA level as visiting faculty in Kathmandu University School of Management.

BEDENDRA SHAMSHER RANA, Visiting Faculty

Experience: Mr. Rana started his career as Marketing Manager at Helen Curtis Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Rana has held managerial post in different reputed international companies. He is in the field of academia for last thirteen years. During the course he headed Campion Kathmandu Valley School as the Vice Principal and A.J. Wild Institution and Suva Shree College as the Principal. He also conducts IELTS Programs in various institutions. He is currently teaching English in South Asian Institute of Management.

BHUSAN SHAH, Visiting Faculty

Experience: Mr. Shah began his career in commercial banking. During eight years with the then Nepal Grindlays Bank, he held a number of operational and management positions in branch banking, marketing, payment systems and corporate banking. He joined a large business group in 1999 as head of a subsidiary involved in international trading, travel services and airline representation. In 2002 he moved to the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) in 2002 as Deputy Team Leader of a private sector development project. His responsibilities there included export promotion, value chain development, enterprise education, business and conflict and project management. Since January 2006, he has been functioned as an economic and business development consultant. He has completed a number of consulting assignments for prominent national and international clients both in Nepal and internationally. Mr. Shah is an experienced trainer and has taught postgraduate courses in marketing and entrepreneurship.

DEEPAK RAJBHANDARY, Visiting Faculty

Experience: Mr. Rajbhandary has over 25 years of experience in areas like economics, financing, development and organizational management in Nepal. Mr. Rajbhandary has long experience as a senior managerial staff in the banking and financial sectors contributing to development and implementation of Human Resources and Business Strategies in pursuit of organizational goals. His contribution to expansion of the bank and banking sector in the country is noteworthy. His experience and contributions to rural development, while he was with United Stated Agency for International Development (USAID) were key to sustainable developments in the project area. His project covered a wide range of (integrated) rural development activities such as agriculture, livestock, forestry, education and infrastructure developments (roads, bridges, drinking water, etc.). Mr. Rajbhandari is currently involved in his own business in the agriculture sector and does consulting in the area of private entrepreneurship.

Experience: Mr. Chapagain has conducted policy level research on water resources, agribusiness, employment, labour, industry and environment. He has been Organizational and Management System Development consultant to various private business houses. He is the advisor of Nepal AOTS Alumni Society, a society formed by ex-trainees of Association for Oversees Technical Co-operation (Japan). He is also the Chairman of Management Information Synergic Solution, a society formed by computer and management professionals to empower Nepalese managers with information technology. He teaches Operations Management, Quality Management, Industrial Relations, and Business Environment to the MBA students. He has been a resource person in training conducted by NPEDC, NASC, MAN, PAAN, etc.

DINESH P. PANT, Visiting Faculty

Experience: Dr. Pant has more than 25 years of service experience in the public sector of Nepal, including international agencies, in various capacities (chief executive, national project coordinator, research coordinator, trainer, consultant, etc). He is presently the Director of Studies at the Nepal Administrative Staff College. He has also served as a Performance Management Specialist for the Government of Nepal, under its governance reform program (with technical assistance from the ADB).

Experience: Mr. Tuladhar is an entrepreneur and runs his business. He has working experience as Chief Operation Officer in NepMade International for about 4 years and Production Manager in Unlimited Numedia for two years. He has rich experience in marketing, particularly in branding and has undertaken studies in this area. Mr. Tuladhar currently teaches marketing to the Master level students at South Asian Institute of Management.

Experience: Dr. Dhakal is a visiting professor and lecturer for executive education programs at the Duke Center for International Development, Duke University, Durham NC USA, where teaches courses on Project Analysis and Risk Management, Tax Analysis and Revenue Forecasting and Applied Microeconomics. He is also a senior lecturer of Investment Appraisal and Economic Analysis, in the JDI International Executive Program at Queen's University Canada. He has served as a lecturer and core faculty member responsible for teaching microeconomics, foundation of risk analysis, and cost/benefit analysis for the "Program on Investment Appraisal and Management" (PIAM) conducted by Harvard Institute for International Development, Harvard University, USA. He has also served as an Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Power, Royal Government of Bhutan.

Experience: Dr. Agrawal is a professor at the Central Department of Economics, Tribhuvan University, where he teaches post graduate level courses. He has served as Dean at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Tribhuvan University. Dr. Agrawal has participated as a team member in numerous research projects conducted for organizations such as WHO, ILO, UNFPA, DANIDA, World Bank, GTZ, UNDP among others.
Area of Interest: Econometrics, Microeconomics, Quantitative Techniques.
K. B. MANANDHAR, Visiting Faculty

Experience: Mr. Manandhar is currently the Deputy Governor in Nepal Rastra Bank. He worked as a Research Officer at Centre for Economic Development and Administration (CEDA) and Section Officer at the National Planning Commission before joining the Research Department at Nepal Rastra Bank. He has been engaged in the Foreign Exchange Department for the last two decades. He teaches International Finance Management and courses on Management of Financial Institutions at the Masters level in different colleges.

Experience: Dr. Shahi has many years of experience in international banking and finance. He started his professional career as an operations manager in Citibank N.A., Tokyo in 1989. He has since held responsible positions in reputed banks. He served as an Assistant Vice President at Citibank NA, Tokyo; as a Vice President of Global Investment Bank Controlling division of Deutshe Securities Ltd., Tokyo; as Manager of the Financial Engineering Group of Shinsei Bank Ltd, Tokyo; as a Deputy General Manager of the Institutional Banking Group of Shinsei Bank, Tokyo; and more recently as deputy general manager of the Capital Markets Division at Shinsei Bank, Tokyo.

Experience: Dr. Khatry has long experience in academia and banking sector. He was the founder principal of Nepal College of Management. He has served as visiting lecturer in Kurukshetra University for some time. Prior to joining academia he was with Agricultural Development Bank holding different responsible positions as the Chief of Small Farmer Development Division, Director of Agricultural Training and Research Institute etc. He has wide experience working as consultant and experts in various projects related to agriculture and poverty reduction. He has contributed many articles in reputed journals and presented papers in various seminars and conferences.

Experience: Mr. Pandey has long experience as CEO and head of various institutions. He has served as the General Manger of the then Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation and also the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board at different occasions. He was heading Cinnovation and is involved as consultant to reputed organizations within and outside Nepal. Mr. Pandey teaches courses in marketing at the Master level in south Asian Institute of Management.

Experience: Mr. Lama started his career at Necon Air as a marketing and communication officer after completing his MBA in 1999. He then worked as a communication officer at ADDCN, a Danish Funded INGO where he was active in developing communication strategies and implementing advocacy campaigns. He joined SAIM during its inception and has been involved in planning, developing and executing its growth strategies. Through his professional experience he has developed interest and expertise in business communication, human resource management and behavioural aspects of people in organizations.

RABINDRA M. SHRESTHA, Visiting Faculty

Experience: Mr Shrestha has a long experience in industries and trade as a manager. He is currently the President of Marigold Group which produces tea and other snack foods. He was Managing Director of Continental Trading Enterprise for about five years. He was also the Chief Executive Officer in Himalaya Snax and Noodles Pvt. Ltd. for about a decade and helped the company to establish itself as one of the leading companies in the noodle industry. In the capacity of CEO he was involved in corporate marketing, strategic planning and innovation, and various other important managerial tasks.

RUPESH K. SHRESTHA

Experience: Mr Shrestha has a long experience as an entrepreneur and manager. He worked as Managing Director of an enterprise involved in importing and marketing of products like footwear in Nepal. He has also worked as Business and Marketing Consultant for many small and medium sized enterprises. Mr Shrestha currently teaches marketing and related courses to the students of Master in Management.

Experience: Mr. Poudel has more than 30 years of working experience in Nepal Rastra Bank. He was associated with research department and monetary division. He also served as Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank. Mr. Poudel has wide experience as a member of board of directors of different reputed institutions of Nepal. After his retirement from NRB in 2004 he has been actively engaged in the field of academia. He is currently teaching Business Mathematics in SAIM College.

SUMAN SHAKYA, Visiting Faculty

Experience: Mr. Shakya has a long experience in marketing in Nepali organizations. He was associated with Himalmedia Pvt. Ltd. and had helped bring out Himal South Asia, Himal Khabarpatrika, Nepali Times and Wave magazines. He is the CEO of bitarak (dot) com Pvt. Ltd., a direct marketing company established with the intention to provide backbone distribution network to E-Commerce requirements. He runs a consultancy company called Mindware and functions as the Strategist at Information Technology & Telecom International (ITNTI), an Application Service Provider. He is involved in the activities relating to the development of entrepreneurship and small business management. He teaches marketing management to the MBA students.
