Program Structure
Duration of the Course
The BBA Program is an intensive 4-year course stretched over eight semesters of full time study, with every academic year having two semesters. The Fall semester starts in September and the Spring semester in March. Students are normally admitted to the program in the fall semester. Maximum duration allowed for the BBA program to be completed is six years i.e., 12 semesters. Students are required to complete internship and project work during their study period. After completion of the course requirements students are awarded Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) by Pokhara University.
Curricular Structure
The BBA curriculum is designed to provide theoretical and conceptual knowledge in various fields of management relevant to organizations and to familiarize the students with the basic tools and techniques of analyzing problems and supporting decision making. Lecture, case analysis and discussion, term-paper writing, seminars and project works are the common teaching methods used by the faculty to achieve the objectives of various courses. The medium of instruction is English.
A student needs to complete 126 credit hours of course work, project work and internship for earning BBA degree. A full time student has to take a minimum of 12 credits per semester. The curriculum comprises of the following seven distinct components and each course is of 3 credit hours. Students need to select two areas of specialization and choose four courses in each.
- Analytical Tools: 10 courses, 30 credit hours
- Support Area Courses: 7 courses, 21 credit hours
- Core Area Courses: 12 courses, 36 credit hours
- Capstone Courses: 3 courses, 9 credit hours
- Specialization Area: 8 courses, 24 credit hours
- Project Work: 3 credit hours
- Internship: 3 credit hours

These courses provide students with analytical skills that help understand the basic and functional areas of management.

The specialization areas courses help students develop specialized and focused skills in the areas of their choice. Students need to select two areas of specialization and choose four courses in each.

PRJ 101.3 Project Work (3 Credits)
Students are required to undertake independent project assignment that involves fieldwork and empirical analysis of the information collected from the field. The students are also required to prepare a project report on a prescribed format. The objective of the project work is to develop students' skills in research, particularly in areas of data collection, processing, analysis, and report writing. The evaluation of the project work shall be external. Only 'Pass/Fail' grades are awarded in the internship.
INT 101.3 Internship (3 Credits)
The BBA students are required to undertake an internship program approved by the Head of the program. A faculty supervises the student intern. The primary goal of internship is to provide a student with a real-life on-the-job exposure and an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts in real life situation. Student's interest and intended area of concentration are taken into account while making internship placement decisions. The normal duration of the internship is 6 to 8 weeks, and it is undertaken during the summer after completing at least 48 credit hours of course works. The students must submit the internship report to the host institution and the University and give a seminar to the faculty and students. A student must obtain 'Pass' grade in the internship. Failure to obtain passing will call for a retake of the internship program. Such retake may be allowed at most only once.
Course Registration
Students are required to register courses at the beginning of each semester. Since registration is a very important procedural part of the credit system, all students must present themselves at the college. Registration in absence may be allowed only in rare cases at the discretion of principal. A student's nominee cannot register for courses but will only be allowed to complete other formalities. |
